Excursion to Sian Ka’an National Park: Boat Safari, Snorkeling & Wildlife Exploration
Sian Ka’an National Park, located in the eastern part of the Yucatan Peninsula, is a vast nature reserve recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987. The name “Sian Ka’an” originates from the Mayan era, meaning “The Birthplace of the Sky.”
To this day, the park is home to many indigenous Mayan communities, who primarily rely on fishing and agriculture for their livelihood. A sustainable management plan ensures the preservation and responsible use of the reserve for future generations.
Punta Allen, the largest settlement within the biosphere reserve, is a popular destination for visitors. Our tour to Sian Ka’an National Park takes you to this former fishing village, known for its stunning beach. The nearby coral reef, part of the national park, attracts amateur divers, and we offer you the chance to snorkel or dive in this beautiful underwater world.
During a snorkeling tour along the reef, you may encounter lobsters, sea turtles, rays, and many other fascinating marine creatures. If you’re lucky, you might even spot the playful dolphins that inhabit the area.
In addition to the coral reef off Yucatan, the Sian Ka’an Nature Reserve offers a diverse landscape of rainforest, wetlands, and mangroves. As you travel along the coast, you’ll witness an incredible variety of flora, all while enjoying breathtaking views of the sea.
The park is home to over 1,000 plant species, as well as more than 100 mammal species and over 300 bird species. The lush and inviting natural environment makes you feel like you’ve stepped into a true paradise.
The limestone foundation of the Yucatan Peninsula has given way to sinkholes filled with freshwater, known as cenotes. Sian Ka’an is home to the largest of these cave systems, famous worldwide. Our tour will take you to one of these natural pools, where you can relax and take a refreshing dip. To top off your day, you’ll enjoy a delicious meal on the beach, with spectacular views of the turquoise sea, making this excursion an unforgettable experience.
